Magnesium Chloride Flakes in Refillable UV-protective biophotonic violet glass

Overview

Pure magnesium chloride sourced from the ancient Zechstein seabed — a 250-million-year-old underground deposit regarded as one of the purest natural sources of magnesium in the world.

Housed in our signature biophotonic violet glass jar, chosen not only to help protect the salts and extend shelf life, but also to serve as a beautiful bathside ritual vessel — perfect for gifting and designed to be refilled.

We choose magnesium chloride for its geological purity and because it is absorbed through the skin more readily than Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate), offering a supportive way to replenish the body’s magnesium alongside a well-balanced diet.

Best times to use

  • After physical activity: to soothe tired muscles and aid recovery.
  • As part of an evening ritual: to calm the nervous system and prepare for restful sleep. Sleep researchers recommend a warm bath one to two hours before bed, as the rise in skin temperature followed by a drop in core body temperature supports the body’s natural readiness for sleep (Haghayegh et al., 2019, Sleep Medicine Reviews; Okamoto-Mizuno & Mizuno, 2023, Journal of Physiological Anthropology).
  • During menstrual cramps: warmth has been shown to ease uterine muscle tension and reduce menstrual pain, making a soak a gentle non-drug option for support (Akin et al., 2004, Journal of Adolescent Health; Alimoradi et al., 2021, Complementary Therapies in Medicine).
  • When experiencing stress, sadness, or anxiety: immersing in warm water can relax tense muscles and help calm emotional states. Studies link warm bathing to improvements in mood and reductions in symptoms of depression and anxiety (Shirayama et al., 2018, Complementary Therapies in Medicine).
  • For mild fever or cold symptoms: a lukewarm bath may aid comfort and rest by helping regulate body temperature and ease discomfort (Sullivan et al., 2014, American Family Physician). Always avoid excessively hot baths during fever.
  • During general abdominal discomfort: the soothing warmth of a bath can help relax muscles in the abdominal wall, which may ease non-specific tummy aches or tension, though evidence here is limited.

How to use

Add 1–2 cups of salt to warm running water and allow to dissolve fully. Settle into the bath and take slow breaths. Soak for 20–30 minutes, giving yourself time to unwind and receive the restorative benefits.
